SMALL EXHIBITION ABOUT COLOURFUL SWEDISH TEXTILES

These presented pictures were taken at an exhibition in Haväng, Sweden, in the summer of 1983. In a well-preserved enclosed 18th century farmhouse – used as youth hostel named Skepparpsgården – which made space for the beautiful exhibition in a furnished spacious room.

The woven and embroidered textiles on display had been made by unknown textile weavers and embroiderers from circa 1890s to 1930s. All textiles were reconstructions in choice of colour, ornamentation and material after traditional art woven and embroidered cushions, bench covers etc popular in the Skåne province 50 to 150 years prior to this period. | The exhibition was curated by Viveka Hansen and Maj-Britt Colebring.
